主人公麦克·施密特在弗雷迪法兹熊的披萨店做夜间保安,他需要在误启动的电子玩偶的手下生存5个夜晚,电力有限,一旦他被抓住,他就会被玩偶们强制塞进一个空的法兹熊皮套里。

作为本系列的第一作,本作并没有什么特别的剧情,只有电话男给你打来的电话才能让玩家知道发生了什么。(当然,有很多彩蛋暗示了真正的剧情)

Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay. Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-I won't talk quite as long this time since Freddy and his friends tend to become more active as the week progresses. Uhh, it might be a good idea to peek at those cameras while I talk just to make sure everyone's in their proper place. I heard he becomes a lot more active in the dark though, so, hey, I guess that's one more reason not to run out of power, right? I-I also want to emphasize the importance of using your door lights. There are blind spots in your camera views, and those blind spots happen to be right outside of your doors. So if-if you can’t find something, or someone, on your cameras, be sure to check the door lights. Uh, you might only have a few seconds to react... Uh, not that you would be in any danger, of course. 人类
- 麦克·史密斯(Mike Smith):玩家操控的角色,在弗雷迪法兹熊的披萨店做夜间保安,他需要在误启动的电子玩偶的手下生存5个夜晚,电力有限,一旦他被抓住,他就会被玩偶们强制塞进一个空的法兹熊皮套里。
- 电话男(Phone Guy):弗雷迪披萨家庭餐厅的前任夜间保安,主角的前辈,他为主角留了录音,以指导主角的工作。疑似在第四夜遭到玩偶攻击死亡,后经官方证实。
机械玩偶
- 弗雷迪菲兹熊(Freddy Fazbear):熊型电子玩偶,是玩具们的主人公,弗雷迪披萨店的门面招牌,同时也是弗雷迪披萨店乐队的主唱。
- 小兔邦尼(Bonnie the Bunny):兔子型电子玩偶,弗雷迪披萨店的贝斯手,手持塑料贝斯。
- 小鸡奇卡(Chica the Chicken):鸡型电子玩偶,弗雷迪披萨店的副唱,手持塑料杯糕,胸前有个围裙写着“Let's Eat!(我们吃!)”。
- 海盗霍斯(Foxy the Pirate):狐狸型电子玩偶,是个海盗、是弗雷迪披萨店里海盗湾的主题玩偶。在游戏发生的时间,海盗湾已经因某种原因关闭。
- 黄金弗雷迪(Golden Freddy/Yellow Bear):隐藏的彩蛋角色。被推定为是主角的幻觉,是一个无力的坐在地上的金色熊型玩偶,跳杀时会整个脸扑在屏幕上并直接让游戏崩溃。
- 骨架(Bare Endo/Endo 01):被放在维修室中,在某些时候会在玩家查看维修室监控时抬头看着玩家。
游戏攻略
邦尼是每夜最先开始移动的玩偶,随后是奇卡,最后是弗雷迪。作为参考,弗雷迪必须在邦尼和奇卡全部离开舞台时才会开始活动。
邦尼从左门进攻,玩家可以从摄像头看到他逐渐靠近,如果在摄像头上找不到他的踪影,那么检查左侧的灯。此时如果看到他在门口的身影,立刻关上门。如果关门后在他没有离开之前开灯,可以在窗户上看到他站着的影子,关门不及时他就会破坏门,门坏后开监控才能被他跳杀。
奇卡从右门进攻,玩家可以从摄像头看到她逐渐靠近,如果在摄像头上找不到他的踪影,那么检查右侧的灯。此时如果看到她在门口的身影,立刻关上门。如果关门后在她没有离开之前开灯,可以看到她站在窗外,关门不及时她就会破坏门,门坏后开监控才能被她跳杀。
霍斯从第二夜开始活动,玩家需要时不时的检查海盗湾,如果不经常看海盗湾摄像头,他就会逐渐从海盗湾里出来,当海盗湾的帘幕完全打开时,就说明他已经出去了,此时必须要快速关上左门,并且记住不要在关上左门之前查看左边走廊的摄像头,这会播放他从走廊跑过来的动画并加速他的来袭。如果他被门挡住了,他会敲门作为代替。此时玩家会损失一部分电力,他无法用门灯发现,并且左门关闭不及时会瞬间跳杀。
弗雷迪从第三夜开始活动。他喜欢暗处,因此经常在摄像头里也难以找到他的踪影(除非在西厅角落的时候,玩家能准确的看到他的眼睛直视着摄像头),且如果其他玩偶与他在同一个房间,因为游戏由2D贴图组成,其他玩偶的贴图会优先于覆盖他的,导致玩家看不到他。他有固定的行动路线,且他在每次移动时会发出笑声,玩家可以通过这个推测他的位置,笑五声后到右门口,关门防御后笑两声又到右门口。另外,弗雷迪在门口时用灯也看不到,因此在后期,你要么盯着熊减缓他的移动速度,要么就在开监控前关右门,当你在右门未关闭且他在右门口时打开监控他就可能进屋【也会听到笑声】,进屋后一段时间自动跳杀,停电也会导致他在停电后约20s跳杀。

星级在标题画面显示,用于展示你完成的游戏进度。

★★:完成第6夜
★★★:完成20/20/20/20难度自定义夜具体原因便是Scott曾断论不可能有人能通过20/20/20/20的Night 7。原因便是Night 7的电量非常少,在全程只耗1格电的情况下只能剩下大约30%,其次玩偶的动作非常快(特别是邦尼十几秒便会光顾保安室)。但一位名叫bigbug的博主上传了通关全20的视频狠狠打脸了Scott。Scott不仅在这位博主的视频下面称赞了他,还在后来的更新中添加了第3颗星。这影响了后来的FNAF系列(包括同人),及通关最高难度(全20)的玩家可获得最后一颗星。[5]
